Introduction

Let’s smoke it up in 2025!

2024 was our best year yet! More than 7,500 people from the community came to cheer on 42 KCBS Competition Series Cookers, eat some amazing ‘Que, shop with over 100 food and craft vendors, and listen to amazing bands. 2025 is all that and more – all at the beautiful Hop Springs Park in eastern Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Family and friends, both old and new, can join in the celebration of BBQ at the 11th Annual Boro BBQ Festival at Tennessee Miller Colosseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Smell that smoke, cast your vote in the People’s Choice, tour Tennessee Whiskey’s or craft beer, bounce on a bouncy house until you….well, just watch some of the top cookers in Middle Tennessee compete in the KCBS Competitive Series-sanctioned Dr. George Smith BBQ Brawl. This event annually attracts thousands of visitors to a day of family fun and adventure. Come on down, experience the aroma, and enjoy eating some of the finest BBQ east of the Mississippi River and west of the Great Smoky Mountains. We will roll out the red carpet and keep the lights on.

FAQ

Yes! Our sponsors help keep this a free event for the public while serving the financial commitment of the Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary.
Yes! – And No. Our cookers are dedicated Kansas City BBQ Association competitors and they, by rule, cannot share their competition ‘Que with the public. However, you can cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award competition. If that’s not your thing, eat BBQ, Hot Dogs, Kettle Corn, and a plethora of other food for sale by our vendors.
What’s this People’s Choice thing?
Well, it’s our way of giving you the goods, so to speak. Our competitors can’t share with you their fare that they submit for KCBS judging, but many are willing to cook a special pork butt that they’ll submit to the court of public opinion (that’s you). A small charge will get you 10 2 oz samples of competition BBQ. That’s 20 ounces! The average serving size for pulled pork at a restaurant is 5-7 ounces!
Absolutely! This is a family event! Some activities are free while other will have a small charge.
For some people, you can’t have BBQ without a Beer! Friends over 21 can try out BBQ pairing with several craft beers
We’re still confirming with the bands. We’ll let you know as soon as we do!
We are glad you asked! We’re using our Facebook page as the primary location for news and updates. Follow us there.
